4 Easy Plants That Will Spruce Up Your Senior Apartment in Yuma

It’s so important to make your new senior apartment in Yuma, AZ, feel like home. At Yuma Senior Living, we encourage all of our residents and their families to do this. We have even already shared some ideas to help make your apartment feel like home. One of these ideas was to incorporate plants into your new apartment.

Not only do indoor plants help improve air quality and bring life into the apartment, but they can also help fight off depression in seniors too. And if you had a lot of plants in your old home, you should have some in your new home. Here are four easy plants that will spruce up your senior apartment in Yuma.

1) Spider Plant

Spider plants are easy to take care of, as all they need is a little bit of daily sunlight and only must be watered once every few days. There are a few different types of spider plants for you to choose from. Many people like to hang these plants from windows, as their leaves will then cascade over the side of the pots.

2) Peace Lily

If you’re looking to bring some luck into senior apartments in Yuma, AZ, many cultures say a peace lily will do the job. They will add some color to your apartment too, as they have dark green leaves and white petals. These plants should be places in an area of your apartment that gets indirect sunlight. The soil should be kept moist all times, so if you notice the soil is starting to dry out, it’s time to water.

3) Aloe Vera

Aloe vera plants are succulents that are very easy to keep alive. They do like as much sun as possible, so they should be kept near a window. They don’t need a lot of water in their soil. When the leaves grow bigger, pick one off, and you will see aloe oozing out of it.

4) Mint

If you want a plant that looks beautiful and smells and tastes beautiful, grow a mint plant. You may be surprised to find that they are easy to care for. You may need to be a bit careful at first, but when the roots mature and take hold, mint plants are resilient. Then when the leaves grow to a nice size, you can pick them off and use them as you wish, such as cooking, in a glass of water, in a cup of tea, and so on.
